Gravel Riding 101
Gravel riding is different. It’s not about perfectly paved roads or predictable routines, it’s about embracing the unexpected: the crunch of loose gravel under your tires, the challenge of steep climbs, and the thrill of discovering hidden trails.
Each ride demands adaptability, stamina, a sense of adventure, and turning every mile into a story. Gravel Day captures that spirit through the gravel roads of Athens County, where every climb fuels progress toward ending cancer.

Gravel Ride Training
Training for gravel riding is essential because the terrain demands more than steady road miles. Loose gravel, rolling hills, and changing surfaces require strength, endurance, and bike-handling skills that only come with preparation.
Building up your mileage and practicing on similar terrain will help you feel confident and ready for Gravel Day. The more you train, the more you’ll be able to enjoy the ride, tackle the challenges, and make the most of the Gravel Day experience.
First, make sure to review the Gravel Day Event Handbook and Safety & Training Handbook before your ride!
In addition, check out these resources, which are also featured on the Training page of our website:
